In 2013, City of Burnaby Fire Department implemented UKG Workforce Central TeleStaff (ex Kronos TeleStaff) as its Workforce Management solution to manage shift assignments and staffing for the fire service. The deployment was scoped to the Burnaby Fire Department workforce and configured to manage crew scheduling, roster automation, on call assignments, overtime monitoring, and timekeeping across the department’s stations and operational units supporting 286 employees.
Configuration work emphasized scheduling and roster rules common to public safety operations, including multi shift cycles, minimum staffing constraints, callout and overtime controls, and role based access for supervisors. UKG Workforce Central TeleStaff was used to centralize roster creation, automate recurring schedules, and provide operational reporting for duty planning and compliance with staffing policies.
Operational rollout included a structured upgrade effort described as the KRONOS Telestaff Upgrade 2017 Project, where a Project Coordinator provided analytical and administrative support working closely with Burnaby Fire Department stakeholders, Business Analysts and IT related staff. Governance activities focused on stakeholder engagement, requirements validation, test coordination, and administrative change control to align schedules and approval workflows with departmental procedures.
The engagement centered on embedding UKG Workforce Central TeleStaff into fire service scheduling practices, orienting supervisors to roster management and enforcing scheduling governance through business analyst led process updates. The implementation narrative reflects a department level Workforce Management deployment with project management and cross functional coordination that led to successful project completion.
