| Workday | CGI Advantage Financial Management | Workday Financial Management | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2018 | 2019 |
In 2018, City of Gainesville implemented Workday Financial Management. The City had used CGI Advantage Financial Management for an estimated ten to twenty years, with much of the modern functionality under-utilized or not implemented, and management selected Workday Financial Management as an appropriate replacement to address identified weaknesses in the Advantage control environment.
The implementation centered on ERP Financial capabilities, including core general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement, fixed assets, budgeting and financial reporting. Workday Financial Management was configured to reflect municipal fund accounting, a multi segment chart of accounts, fiscal period controls, role based security, and automated approval workflows aligned with public sector financial governance.
Deployment covered enterprise financial operations across municipal departments, centralizing transactional processing and financial reporting under a single cloud based system. The architecture emphasized a consolidated financial data model to replace disparate transactional processes and to provide consistent audit trails and control points.
Governance and process restructuring accompanied the rollout, with emphasis on establishing standardized accounting policies, implementing approval hierarchies, and delivering staff training to address gaps in ERP industry best practices. The City moved to Workday Financial Management to remediate control weaknesses in the prior CGI Advantage Financial Management environment and to implement more modern ERP Financial processes across its finance function.
