In 2016, Clariant implemented Serrala FinanceSuite to address Accounts Payable needs under the AP Automation category, centralizing invoice processing and approval workflows for the finance organization. The deployment of Serrala FinanceSuite was scoped to support Accounts Payable and adjacent finance functions, positioning the application as Clariant Serrala FinanceSuite AP Automation for invoice-to-pay orchestration and supplier interaction.
Serrala FinanceSuite was configured to deliver core AP Automation capabilities, including automated invoice capture and optical character recognition, three way invoice matching and validation, configurable approval workflows, exception management and an electronic supplier portal for invoice submission and inquiry. The implementation emphasized a workflow engine, document repository and audit trail to support regulatory and recordkeeping requirements while enabling standardized invoice lifecycle processing across business units.
Architecturally the implementation followed a centralized AP Automation design, integrating Serrala FinanceSuite with Clariant enterprise back-office systems and with financial payment channels to coordinate payment release and reconciliation. Integration points focused on ERP master data exchange, invoice posting and payment orchestration, using secure interfaces to propagate validated payable transactions into the general ledger and to update supplier records.
Governance and operational rollout included establishment of standardized approval matrices, exception handling rules and supplier onboarding processes to reduce manual touchpoints and to formalize controls across Accounts Payable and Treasury. Rollout was organized in phases to stabilize configuration, refine workflow rules and institutionalize operating procedures, with the Serrala FinanceSuite instance serving as the central AP Automation platform for ongoing policy enforcement and auditability.

In 2018, Clariant implemented SAP SuccessFactors Compensation as part of a global deployment of the full SAP SuccessFactors Suite to support Compensation Management across its HR organization. The deployment extended SAP SuccessFactors Compensation alongside modules for recruiting, onboarding, performance, goal management, succession and pay, covering nearly 40 countries and roughly 11,000 employees to centralize compensation planning within the broader HR platform.
The implementation focused on configuring the SAP SuccessFactors Compensation module to align with existing performance and goal management workflows and to reflect country-specific pay and field requirements. Configuration work emphasized standardized global data models while preserving localized fields, and the program incorporated Candidate document handling into automated onboarding workflows to ensure relevant compensation-related data followed new hires into Employee Central.
Integrations explicitly included data flows between the Recruiting and Onboarding modules and Employee Central to reduce manual data entry and ensure consistent master data for compensation processing. Operational support and escalation were provided through an integrated ticket management system, enabling Clariant HR to raise issues that Talenteam would resolve via its SAP SuccessFactors Support Services. The support contract was hour-based and provisioned dedicated services for incident management, process enhancement, end user support, admin enablement training and access to a knowledge base.
Governance was structured around a long-term collaborative partnership with Talenteam, leveraging established project management and ongoing support to maintain continuity and institutional knowledge across successive rollouts. The initiative explicitly aimed to streamline hiring and onboarding, reduce manual effort, improve data accuracy and enhance the employee onboarding experience, while Talenteam’s support model supplied continuity, faster resolution and customer admin enablement for sustained operation of SAP SuccessFactors Compensation.
