| Microsoft | Legacy | Microsoft Azure DevOps Server | Apps Development | PaaS | n/a | 2015 | 2015 | In 2015 Clark Builders deployed Microsoft Azure DevOps Server as the core Apps Development platform to formalize source control, build automation, and work item tracking for in-house software delivery. The deployment targeted the companys internal software development organization headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta, supporting custom web, desktop, and integration projects used across Clark Builders commercial, industrial, institutional, and multi-unit residential operations in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and northern Canada. The Microsoft Azure DevOps Server implementation included standard Apps Development capabilities such as centralized Git or TFVC source control, work item tracking for Agile backlogs and sprints, automated build pipelines for CI, and release management for controlled deployments. Configuration emphasized automation of builds and test runs, integration with .Net Web API and ASP.Net MVC application lifecycles, and artifact retention to support repeatable delivery of web-based solutions and desktop clients. Integrations and technical coverage reflected the existing technology estate, with Azure DevOps Server orchestrating builds and releases for applications built on .Net Web API, Angular, SQL Server, WCF, WPF, ASP.Net MVC, and Azure services. The environment also supported solutions that interfaced with SQL Server Integration Services, SharePoint, and Microsoft Dynamics CRM, aligning application delivery with the companys business application integration initiatives. Governance and process changes were implemented in parallel, the engineering leadership established an Agile Software Development Lifecycle and DevOps practices, and team members pursued Scrum Master and Lean IT Foundations training. Operational governance emphasized work item discipline, sprint cadences, and branching and merging policies within Microsoft Azure DevOps Server, with developer coaching to embed Agile delivery and automated build practices into day to day workflows. The Azure DevOps Server deployment was a structural enabler in the evolution from a single developer role to a managed development team, supporting consultant engagements and full time staff as the software organization scaled. The implementation centralized source control and automated build infrastructure, and it served as the platform for ongoing DevOps and Agile maturation across Clark Builders Apps Development function. |
