In 2016 Clark Builders implemented SAP Concur Expense as its Expense Management solution to centralize expense reporting for finance and accounting. The deployment used the cloud native SAP Concur Expense application to standardize expense capture, approval workflows, policy enforcement, and corporate card reconciliation across the company finance function.
Configuration work focused on expense report automation, approver routing, and corporate card reconciliation capabilities typical of Expense Management platforms, with validations and approval thresholds configured to support weekly and monthly accounting cycles. The SAP Concur Expense environment was instrumented to support expense data ingestion and regular reconciliations, and the platform served as the primary source for corporate card and employee expense transactions.
Operational integrations and process signals are explicit in internal accounting activity, including weekly BMO credit card and Concur expense verifications and entry, monthly journal entries, monthly reconciliations, GST and PST returns, inter-company reconciliation, and clearing account reconciliation. Accounting staff also built Tableau reports for other departments and used VBA in Excel to automate month end processes, indicating downstream reporting and desktop automation that consumed data from SAP Concur Expense.
Governance and rollout details were centered in the corporate accounting team, with staff accountants leading testing of system functionality during an ERP upgrade and managing reconciliation cadence and policy compliance. Routine operational governance included weekly credit card verification, monthly reconciliations, and structured accounting entries, aligning SAP Concur Expense with Clark Builders finance and accounting workflows.

| Workday | Legacy | Workday HCM | Core HR | HCM | n/a | 2016 | 2016 |
In 2016, Clark Builders implemented Workday HCM as its Core HR system. Workday HCM was standardized as the company HRIS to manage employee lifecycle and human resources processes across both corporate offices and field construction operations.
Deployment emphasized core HR and workforce management capabilities typical of the Core HR category, including centralized employee records, organizational management, onboarding and offboarding workflows, absence and time tracking, and performance and talent management configuration. The implementation configured business process automation within Workday HCM to establish self-service HR flows, approval chains, and role based access controls. These configurations were aligned to reduce administrative overhead and to enable consistent HR process execution.
Operationally the Workday HCM deployment ran alongside a broader IT modernization program that included ServiceNow for ITSM and a Citrix based virtual desktop environment, with standardized collaboration tools such as Zoom and Bluebeam. Workday HCM served as the authoritative HRIS while IT platforms provided ITSM, provisioning and secure remote access to HR self-service for field teams. Security governance from the managed security as a service program provided cyber risk management, vulnerability scanning, control testing and incident response frameworks that supported the overall deployment.
Governance for the Workday HCM implementation was formalized through a steering committee and an IT department restructuring led by the Director of Information Technology, applying Lean IT and agile practices including daily huddles, Kanban boards, Gemba walks and continuous improvement. This governance model supported project prioritization, budget oversight and workflow redesign to align HR processes with site launches and mobile workforce requirements. ITSM consolidation and process standardization created clearer operational ownership for HR related incidents and requests.
Workday HCM was positioned as the standardized HRIS across Clark Builders to reduce repetitive applications and centralize human resources functions, leveraging the existing Citrix virtual desktop environment and established IT governance to enable consistent access and administration.

In 2015, Clark Builders implemented eCMS Cloud Construction ERP. The eCMS Cloud Construction ERP deployment addressed core Construction ERP functions including financials, cost accounting, payroll, project management, reporting, project wide communication, and content management.
The solution was delivered as a cloud application and included configuration of financial and project modules to align with commercial contracting workflows, with Onware engaged for business intelligence and analytics. Onware integrated eCMS data with Tableau to create interactive dashboards and reports that consolidated job cost, labour hours, and work on hand datasets.
The implementation supported Clark Builders operations across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Northern Canada and connected finance, project controls, estimating, and field operations to a centralized Construction ERP data model. Clark Builders operated this environment at scale, with approximately 1500 employees and reported revenue of 1200000000, which informed role based access and security profiles during configuration.
Governance work focused on standardizing reporting workflows and instituting self service analytics using Tableau visualizations. As described in the Onware case study and featured Tableau webinar, the eCMS Cloud Construction ERP integration with Tableau improved visibility into job cost, labour hours, and work on hand and enabled faster, more efficient decision making through user friendly, interactive, real time dashboards and reports.
