In 2017 Clearstream Canada integrated IBM Maximo as its Enterprise Asset Management platform to support construction scheduling and maintenance planning for Bruderheim, Alberta operations. The implementation focused on Capex Major Projects and Opex projects across November 2017 to February 2019, including work for Cenovus Bruderheim and development of the proposed APPL Replacement Pipeline Project construction schedule between Edmonton and Calgary.
Clearstream configured IBM Maximo to support schedule management and earned value reporting, and implemented an Earned Value Management report structure to track KPIs such as CPI, SPI, CV and SV for dashboard reports. The team maintained a biweekly Master Schedule for capital and maintenance projects with IBM Maximo as the system of record, produced biweekly schedule reports, and developed resource loaded schedules and manpower charts to support bid proposals and turnaround planning.
Operational use of IBM Maximo was tightly coupled with project controls and field coordination, with daily project coordination meetings and biweekly performance meetings driving updates. Project coordinators reviewed and analyzed contractor daily progress reports including schedule detail, LEMs, invoices, and cost and schedule variance, and used IBM Maximo data to monitor daily progress accomplishment and to synchronize with Project Managers.
Governance was formalized around a biweekly reporting cadence and integrated cost control workflows, with responsibilities that included reviewing and analyzing contractor cost reports and participation in risk assessment. The implementation aligned IBM Maximo Enterprise Asset Management capabilities with construction scheduling, cost control, and turnaround scheduling processes to centralize scheduling, earned value reporting, and project level governance.
