The implementation of Oracle Cloud ERP emphasized financial forecasting, revenue management, and enhanced data integration to enable more effective decision making for supply procurement and inventory management. Oracle Cloud ERP was paired with Oracle Supply Chain Management Cloud to enable automated supply and demand planning and to introduce real-time operational insights for finance and supply chain teams.
Operational coverage extended beyond back-office accounting to include procurement, inventory management, and front-line provider workflows, with design intent to benefit back-office personnel, providers and patients. The platform architecture is cloud native and scalable, enabling a single ERP Financial backbone that supports multi-site and cross-border configuration, centralized master data and shared analytical models.
Governance and process transformation focused on modernizing finance workflows to increase productivity and reduce operating costs, while establishing data integration touchpoints between clinical and operational systems to support supply chain decisions. In 2019, Cleveland Clinic implemented Oracle Cloud HCM as a Core HR platform to centralize Human Resources, payroll, talent and compensation workflows. The implementation focused on Global HR and Payroll for workforce deployment, workforce development covering Talent, Performance and Goal Management, and Compensation Management for compensation and benefits administration across the health system.
Oracle Cloud HCM was configured to support bulk data load and transactional processing using HCM Data Loader and Cloud File Based Data Import FBDI, and teams leveraged HCM DBI Export Worksheet database items introduced in release 13 for element and balance extraction. Configuration work included HCM Transactional Analysis Duty to provide access to out of the box reports and to enable creation of OTBI and BIP reports aligned to HCM subject areas.
Integrations were built using Oracle Integration Cloud and Integration Cloud Service, employing Universal Content Management Webservices for file based integrations. A custom payroll extract was developed to pick employee data from Oracle Cloud HCM and pass it to the ADP vendor for payroll processing, and Cloud FBDI processes were used to migrate employee records from Lawson into the SaaS environment with SQL validation queries to confirm source to target integrity.
Reporting and analytics were delivered through Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence OTBI and BIP, with daily and weekly OTBI reports and dashboards for headcount, terminations, salary changes, department changes and band changes. Implementation teams used Oracle Rel13_HCM_OTBI_Database_Mapping_with_View Objects lineage artifacts to map HCM PVOs to OTBI subject areas and to migrate data from base tables into transactional reporting tables.
Operational governance centered on managing bulk loads and ongoing data maintenance using HCM Data Loader and FBDI, establishing integration routines through OIC and ICS, and enabling HR teams to produce standardized OTBI/BIP outputs. Oracle Cloud HCM was positioned as the Core HR system of record for Cleveland Clinic HR and payroll operations.

In 2010, Cleveland Clinic implemented Epic ASAP within a Clinical Trial Management context, establishing Epic ASAP as a core source for clinical operational data. The deployment was associated with a broader data platform effort to centralize EPIC module data for reporting and analytics.
The implementation built a multi layer database architecture to transform EPIC data into a Teradata data warehouse, with a data vault model used to translate EPIC Clarity data into Teradata. Standards were established for ACQ layer ETL packages and for EXP layer ETL packages, and Informatica processes were implemented to transfer data from EPIC file data to the ACQ layer and from the ACQ layer to the EXP layer. Procedures and standards were also defined for moving data from the EXP layer to the presentation layer.
Functional capabilities implemented alongside Epic ASAP included ETL extraction from EPIC Clarity, EPIC file exports, XML and Excel sources, and loading into SQL Server and Teradata for reporting. Reporting and business intelligence artifacts produced included DataMart and dashboards for EPIC Inpatient, Stork, ASAP, ADT, and EPIC Resolute modules, plus a dashboard and DataMart for tracking COVID and flu patients. Tools and runtime components used were Informatica, SSIS, Tableau, SAS, SAP BOBJ Universe, Xcelsius, Oracle, and SQL Server 2012 and 2019.
Integrations explicitly encompassed EPIC Clarity and EPIC Workbench report outputs, Vizient submission ETL processes, and enterprise reporting through Business Objects scheduling. The relationship between Cleveland Clinic Epic ASAP Clinical Trial Management reporting workflows and the data warehouse was direct, with Epic ASAP data channeled into ACQ, EXP, and presentation layers to serve clinical analytics, decision support, and regulatory submission workflows.
Governance and process work included defining ETL coding standards, implementing Informatica and SSIS package patterns, translating client requirements into technical specifications, and maintaining the Microsoft SQL Server development environment.
