In 2017 Compeer Financial implemented OnBase for AP as its AP Automation solution, consolidating accounts payable document management and workflow following the July 2017 merger of three agriculture finance organizations. The decision leveraged an existing OnBase footprint originating from Badgerland Financial and positioned OnBase for AP as the enterprise document management and AP workflow backbone for the merged organization.
The deployment emphasized AP Automation capabilities, including automated invoice capture with OCR and metadata extraction, configurable invoice matching and exception routing, and approval workflow orchestration within OnBase for AP. Configurations also addressed document lifecycle management, searchable archival and audit trail instrumentation to support accounting controls and month end processes.
Integration scope was defined around connecting OnBase for AP to core accounting and general ledger systems, enterprise authentication directories for single sign on, and email based workflow notifications, using standard connector patterns to minimize bespoke interfaces. Operational coverage targeted accounts payable and finance teams across 47 offices serving 144 counties in Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, consolidating AP document handling from the merged entities.
Governance established centralized process ownership and standardized approval and retention policies, reusing established OnBase process templates and institutional knowledge from the prior Badgerland deployment to accelerate configuration and training. The rollout prioritized unifying AP processing under a single system and standardizing workflows and document governance across the organization.

The Odessa Platform implementation established a single global system of record for Compeer's asset finance portfolios, consolidating lease and loan management workflows, asset accounting touchpoints, and configurable process controls. Compeer used the platform to standardize internal processes company-wide, leveraging configurable business rules and workflow configuration to align technology with operational process changes.
Operational coverage focused on core asset finance functions including underwriting, servicing, accounting and risk management as they relate to loans and leases across Compeer's footprint in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois. The deployment centralized visibility and administrative tasks for asset portfolios that serve more than 43,000 clients, supporting both front-office and back-office operations.
Governance changes emphasized process standardization and a centralized system of record to enable real-time visibility into business operations. Outcomes articulated alongside the implementation included reduced administrative complexity, greater operational efficiencies, and the ability to spend more time on business goals and strategy, supported by Odessa Platform's single code base and regular delivery cadence.
