At project outset ConAgra processed approximately 250,000 invoices annually with expectations to scale to over one million invoices a year, driving the need for centralized capture and standardized workflows across plants and functions.
Kofax MarkView for AP was configured to enable immediate capture of invoices received by email fax and EDI into a central intake stream, with scanned documents ingested and stored via P8 when required. The deployment included SupplierExpress as a self-service supplier portal and custom MarkView workflows to handle non-SAP marketing invoices and freight pay invoices, supporting coding exception management approval routing and payment orchestration as part of an end-to-end AP Automation flow.
Integrations explicitly included SAP for transaction posting and status updates and the SupplierExpress portal for supplier self-service and remittance updates. Rollout began with a SupplierExpress pilot in June 2010 involving three suppliers then expanded to targeted suppliers who frequently contacted AP, and the centralized model was extended to consumer plants corporate SG&A and mill locations without adding headcount.
Governance changes focused on standardizing approval workflows centralizing capture and creating visibility for AP purchasing and receiving teams to support discrepancy resolution and root-cause analysis. Reported results included a 40 percent reduction in supplier calls elimination of repetitive inquiries ability to scale processing without incremental AP headcount up to a 25 percent reduction in traditional AP labor costs and an improvement from 55 percent of invoices entered past due to 93 percent of invoices paid in accordance with terms.
