Continental implemented BizFlow BPM in 2006 to automate procurement and engineering change-request workflows across Continental Automotive Systems North American engineering division. The BizFlow BPM deployment is classified as Business Process Management and targeted procurement, test orders and R&D workflows supporting roughly 500 engineers and project staff.
The implementation configured workflow orchestration for engineering change requests and procurement approvals, replacing paper based trails with electronic approvals, structured forms and audit trail capabilities. BizFlow BPM was used to centralize routing and approval logic, and to standardize process state transitions and exception handling across engineering and project workflows.
Integration with SAP was a key component of the implementation, BizFlow BPM populated part and project data from SAP and referenced SAP PS for project system structures as described in vendor documentation. The deployment operated at the divisional level within North America and focused on operational coordination between engineering, procurement and test order processes.
Governance changes emphasized standardized approval flows and process auditability to improve visibility and accountability for change requests and procurement actions. The Continental implementation eliminated paper trails and saved weeks of manual data entry per year while improving traceability for project and part related workflows.
