About the Customer
Cook County is a county in the U.S. state of Illinois. It is the second-most populous county in the United States after Los Angeles County, California.
Scope and Challenges
With 22000 employees time and attendance processes for nearly three-quarters of the employees were tracked manually through paper timesheets.
The county was searching for the right solution to manage this HR challenges they were dealing with.
For financial management, they have used Microsoft Dynamics GP for nearly a decade.
Outcome and Implications
In 2017 they chose WorkForce Software's HCM cloud-based platform called EmprCenter to modernize timekeeping, increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Instead of using paper timesheets to record hours worked, employees since 2017 use a combination of badge readers and biometric authentication to sign in and out every day. Those metrics are integrated in real-time with the county’s payroll system for precision in payroll calculations.
Employees can use self-service tools to review their hours and pay statements electronically. By eliminating printed paystubs alone, the county expects to save $20,000 per year in paper and printing costs.
“Cook County is a perfect example of how we’re able to work with employers to address employee needs, streamline efficiencies and cut costs. As a result, customers like Cook County can achieve significant savings while putting their employees at the center with easy-to-use tools and greater transparency.” - said Mike Morini, CEO of WorkForce Software.
