In 2013 COOK implemented Access PeopleXD Expense Management (formerly CoreHR Expense) to address an outdated HR setup and partial expenses coverage, using the Expense Management capability as the core of a broader HCM consolidation. The project tied the Access PeopleXD Expense Management application into a unified suite approach to reduce paper processes and provide employees with on-demand access to pay and expense information.
The implementation deployed integrated HR and Payroll functionality alongside Expense Management and Workforce Management modules, including a time and attendance capability. Recruitment and onboarding workflows were automated to replace manual processes, and the solution leveraged the Access Workspace platform for a consistent user experience and centralized configuration of HR, payroll, absence, and talent management functions.
Integrations focused on operational connectivity rather than bespoke third party middleware, with HR and Payroll operating as an integrated pair and the time and attendance module linked to COOK's security and access system, Tensor, to coordinate site-level entry and hours capture. The rollout covered COOK's retail footprint including high street outlets, concessions and the online business, aligning people data and attendance records across customer-facing sites and the central people function.
The deployment followed Access People’s flightpath implementation approach and was executed to meet peak trading deadlines, delivering modern, scalable systems that support recruitment governance, onboarding completeness and improved employee access to pay and expense data. End-user adoption was reported as strong and the program enabled COOK to standardize HR workflows and reduce paper-dependent processes.

Operational rollout was accelerated to cover 50 plus locations as COVID-19 demand surged, extending the application across COOKs UK shop network and delivery fleet.
