| Serrala | Legacy | Serrala FinanceSuite | AP Automation | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2018 | 2018 |
In 2018 CSL Behring Switzerland implemented Serrala FinanceSuite for AP Automation, deploying the application to centralize vendor invoice review and approval workflows for the site. Serrala FinanceSuite was used to formalize invoice capture, validation and routed approvals, and to provide finance teams with workflow orchestration and audit trail capabilities aligned to AP Automation requirements. The implementation was positioned alongside existing administrative processes that support the Leadership Team and the site population of about 500 employees.
The deployment covered core invoice processing and approval modules, configured approval hierarchies, and workflow timers for receivables processing. Operational tasks documented in the program included review and approval of vendors invoices in Serrala, maintenance of purchase requisition and change request records via SharePoint and Ariba, and coordination of expense reporting and travel booking through Concur. SharePoint administration was implemented to create libraries, define metadata structures, and set groups and permissions for shared document management.
Integrations were explicitly established to connect Serrala FinanceSuite with Concur for expense reporting and travel workflows, with Ariba and SharePoint for purchase requisitions and PRR submissions, and with Visio and an Excel database used to maintain the site org chart. The application footprint impacted finance, procurement, and executive administrative functions, supporting meeting and event coordination workflows, protocol and action log generation, and task tracking across those groups.
Governance and process controls included structured submission of Change requests PCC and PRRs, use of cost centers and WBS coding for requisitions, and owner based approvals executed in Serrala FinanceSuite. SharePoint configuration and permissions governance were put in place to manage document access, and monthly org chart maintenance using Visio and Excel was institutionalized as part of operational cadence. These controls reinforced centralized AP Automation workflows and administrative coordination at the Switzerland site.

In 2018, CSL Behring Switzerland deployed SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence to support MES interoperability and plant level orchestration. CSL Behring Switzerland implemented SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence as a Manufacturing Execution System to operationalize Plant to Inventory workflows and to anchor a Bern site MES rollout.
The implementation emphasized integration with core SAP modules and manufacturing disciplines, leveraging expertise across PM, QM, PP, IBP/PPDS, ATTP, and IM/WM/EWM for end to end process alignment. SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence was configured as a middleware layer connecting shop floor execution logic with SAP transaction and master data, and technical work included ABAP and forms customization along with platform level administration and S4HANA alignment.
Integrations were a primary focus, the rollout at Bern used SAP MII as middleware to connect a JAG MES instance, automated warehouse interfaces, and external logistics partners including 3PLs and CMOs. Operational coverage centered on Plant to Inventory, with direct impacts to production planning, inventory and warehouse management, plant maintenance, and quality processes across the Bern site and as part of a global template and rollout strategy.
Governance was led by a Director serving as Global Technical Lead for Plant to Inventory, with structured lifecycle responsibilities spanning configuration, Go Live, ongoing maintenance, and landscape transitions. The program also incorporated archiving and document management practices using SAPERION and SAP DMS for document structure, distribution, and workflow control to support regulatory and operational governance.
