In 2015, D R Horton implemented Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Accounts Payable as an AP Automation solution to standardize invoice processing and accounts payable controls across its finance organization. The deployment focused on enterprise accounts payable workflows, check processing, journal posting, and job level reclassification to support construction project accounting and land division budgeting.
Configuration centered on journal entry management within JD Edwards, invoice coding and batch verification, void and repost check procedures, and document imaging and indexing. Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Accounts Payable was configured to support routine tasks described in operational procedures including reclassifying balance sheet items to the correct jobs, reconciling monthly escrow accounts across counties, reconciling purchase card accounts with departmental receipts, and scanning posted batches and invoices to vendor and batch identifiers.
The implementation integrated invoice capture and coding workflows with Docusphere and leveraged Edwards entry points for batch validation, with AP clerks submitting batches that are verified against invoices and EPO records. Operational coverage included AP clerks, reconciliations for escrow and purchase cards, controllers responsible for month end close, and coordination with the land controller for budgeting and sales journal entries into JED to enable timely fund transfers to divisions.
Governance and operational controls were codified around batch verification, check clearance checks before posting, indexing standards for scanned documents, and routine reconciliation tasks to correct balance sheet discrepancies by job. The environment emphasized procedural controls and role responsibilities for month end closing, journal entry validation in JDE, and job level reclassification to ensure accounting entries align with project and division reporting.

| Microsoft | Legacy | Microsoft BI (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, SQL Server Reporting) | Analytics and BI | Analytics and BI | n/a | 2015 | 2018 |
In 2015, D R Horton implemented Microsoft BI (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, SQL Server Reporting) to centralize reporting and operational intelligence for its Austin division and 13 surrounding cities. The deployment targeted coordination of permitting and construction start workflows for 2,500 new homes, while providing status visibility across a broader universe of 10,000 plus potential and realized homes, and included training for Executives, Sales, Construction, Mortgage, Title, Accounting, Purchasing, Marketing, and industry partners.
The implementation used core components of Microsoft BI, with SSIS orchestrating data extraction and transformation, SSAS providing analytical modeling and dimensional cubes, and SSRS delivering operational and executive dashboards and scheduled reports. Microsoft BI (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, SQL Server Reporting) was applied to create dashboards that synchronized permitting status, construction start milestones, and portfolio status, embedding Analytics and BI capabilities directly into business workflows.
Operational coverage consolidated data flows from permitting records, construction start logs, scheduling and departmental sources to support cross functional decision making, without named external system replacements. The solution supported a small operational team, with direct management of a staff of three, and extended visibility to divisional leadership for permit coordination across municipal jurisdictions.
Governance work included investigation, verification, documentation, and overhaul of permitting operations, procedures, and accountability standards, coupled with training and best practice adoption of corporate Microsoft Enterprise Technology. The implementation authored and deployed Microsoft Business Intelligence dashboards to coordinate permitting and construction status, producing measurable, actionable insight that reduced time required, materials, and money spent constructing 2,500 new homes.
