In 2020 Delaware Electric implemented NISC ABS as its ERP Financial application to centralize accounting and financial operations for the Cooperative. NISC ABS is provisioned to support the Finance & Accounting department, consolidating transactional processing, statutory reporting, and audit support under a single ERP Financial platform.
The implementation configured core ERP Financial capabilities including accounts payable and accounts receivable processing, monthly bank reconciliations, plant and property recordkeeping, work order audit support, corporate credit card administration, and support for inventory counts. Budgeting workflows were integrated with the Cooperative's budgeting software and the system was used to maintain subsidiary records for tracking monthly power cost and reconciling the power cost adjustment account.
Operational workflows implemented in NISC ABS include daily cash transaction handling such as initiating and approving wire transfers, voiding checks, issuing stop payments, clearing checks, and processing checks and ACH payments. The platform was used to prepare annual audit confirmations and audit schedules, to monitor and reconcile miscellaneous accounts receivable, and to support short and long range financial forecasts and capital and expense budget preparation.
Governance and role configuration placed the Accountant as administrator for the Cooperative's accounts payable software and corporate credit card program, with oversight from the Manager of Accounting, Controller, and CFO. The deployment emphasized written institutional knowledge of accounting and financing procedures, alignment with GAAP and Cooperative policy, and development of NISC iVue system expertise to identify automation opportunities in accounting business solutions.
The NISC ABS deployment covered Delaware Electric Cooperative's Greenwood, Delaware site and supports day to day accounting functions, audit preparation, management and third party reporting, and cross functional collaboration with Information Technology to develop KPI reporting and action analytics.
