In 2018 the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries implemented CTM Travel as its departmental Travel Management application. The CTM Travel implementation targeted operational units including Biosecurity Queensland and the Horticulture and Forestry Science groups, and was adopted by finance, project management and operational teams to standardize travel booking and expense handling across the department.
CTM Travel was configured to support core Travel Management capabilities such as centralized booking workflows, multi‑level approval routing, traveler profile and corporate rate management, and expense reconciliation to support regular financial reporting. The deployment emphasized policy enforcement and audit trails to align bookings and claims with existing departmental travel policies and corporate financial controls.
The solution operated alongside the department's financial and operational systems, including SAP, Fraedom, Adaptive Insights, Aurion, OneView and SharePoint, with travel and expense information used for reconciliation and periodic reporting to finance. CTM Travel was part of a broader application ecosystem that included BORIS, eDocs, Tadpole and Queensland Shared Services tools that supported record management and operational communications.
Governance for CTM Travel aligned with the department's Financial Management Practice Manual, embedding approval hierarchies, record retention via SharePoint and routine reporting to Directors, Project Leaders and the Senior Finance Officer. The implementation restructured travel request and expense workflows to feed into existing budget monitoring and contract management practices used by the department.
