About the Customer
Since 1876 DEUTZ engines have played a role in the mechanization and development of the Americas. DEUTZ Corporation is a sales, service, genuine parts and application engineering center for the Americas, supporting the DEUTZ product range of 25 - 830 hp diesel and natural gas engines. Located northeast of Atlanta, GA in the US, they employ nearly 4000 people covering all aspects of marketing and support.
Scope and Challenges
The German-based engine manufacturer went on a digital journey called "DEUTZ Digital 2020".
Atos won the engine manufacturer Deutz as an outsourcing customer in 2015. Over the next five years, the Cologne-based manufacturer will source data center services, SAP hosting, server capacities, and network services from Atos. The contract also includes end-user support and the operation of CAD applications.
Outcome and Implications
DEUTZ has chosen SAP S/4HANA, SAP Cloud Platform, and SAP SuccessFactors solutions to realize its digital transformation strategy. With SAP, DEUTZ has the right partner for its comprehensive end-to-end vision for a digital plant with new applications for the IoT, optimized financial processes and modern, continuous personnel management.
Through this standardization, the company hopes ultimately also lower costs. At the same time, the manufacturer also wants to advance the flexibility and agility of IT and thus support the core business. With the help of this new infrastructure, the second step is to improve the quality of services, which should then also lead to accelerated market entry times for new products.
