GE Digital Legacy GE Digital Predix APM Asset Performance Management ERP Services and Operations n/a 2019 2019
In 2019 Dubai Electricity and Water Authority implemented GE Digital Predix APM at the L1 power station in Jebel Ali, marking the first GE Power digital plant deployment in the UAE. The implementation targeted more than 130 critical assets and established continuous condition monitoring for an initial two year operational window. GE Digital Predix APM was configured as an Asset Performance Management solution to connect disparate data sources, apply advanced analytics and surface actionable asset health insights. Predix APM’s functional capabilities were used to shift maintenance from schedule based routines to condition based and predictive maintenance, prioritize work by criticality and cost, and enable centralized knowledge management across engineering and operations teams. The deployment emphasized data ingestion and analytics orchestration rather than explicit enterprise application integrations, the platform connecting sensor and operational data streams to APM analytics and visualization layers. The project referenced enabling technologies such as artificial intelligence and Internet of Things instrumentation to support anomaly detection and early fault identification, while fostering cross functional collaboration between operations, maintenance and engineering. Operational governance included a managed monitoring cadence by GE for two years alongside a structured training program to transfer in house capability to DEWA staff. Training covered running GE Digital Predix APM, analyzing condition data and developing operational insights, supporting a governance transition from vendor led monitoring toward DEWA operated APM processes. Documented outcomes tied to the Predix APM deployment include reduced unplanned downtime, improved availability and reliability of critical assets, earlier detection of problems and reduced emergency repairs. The implementation references customer outcomes achieved with Predix APM including up to a 5 percent increase in availability, illustrating the stated Asset Performance Management benefits for power generation operations.
