In 2019, Enel Green Power implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its ERP Financial platform, migrating core finance processes from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 to the SAP S/4 HANA digital core. The program targeted consolidation of financial ledgers and harmonization of accounting practices across the company, with a specific focus on bringing transactional finance into the S/4 HANA environment.
The SAP S/4 HANA deployment centered on finance and controlling capabilities typical of ERP Financial implementations, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Accounting, Treasury and Financial Close functionality. Configuration work emphasized chart of accounts harmonization, statutory and management reporting streams, and standardized fiscal period close workflows to align accounting and controlling processes.
Operationally the project involved data migration and master data rationalization from SAP ERP ECC 6.0 into SAP S/4 HANA, and used SAP-native integration patterns to sustain interfaces with existing operational systems and local ledgers. The rollout covered finance, accounting, treasury and tax functions across Enel Green Power legal entities, consolidating transactional processing and financial master data in the S/4 HANA platform.
Governance was structured around a central program office that enforced finance process standardization and role based access controls, and introduced standardized month end close procedures and intercompany reconciliation workflows. The implementation positioned SAP S/4 HANA as the single ERP Financial system for core financial operations, emphasizing system of record integrity and streamlined finance process governance.

| Hitachi | Legacy | Hitachi Lumada APM (formerly ABB Power Grids Digital Enterprise) | Asset Performance Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2018 | 2019 |
In 2018, Enel Green Power deployed Hitachi Lumada APM as part of an Asset Performance Management initiative targeting its hydroelectric portfolio. The program began with pilots in 2018 and was explicitly oriented toward predictive and condition based maintenance to improve asset reliability across operating sites.
The implementation leveraged ABB Ability Genix APM functional approaches mapped to Hitachi Lumada APM capabilities, including condition monitoring, predictive analytics, anomaly detection, and asset health scoring to support condition based maintenance workflows. Data ingestion and model orchestration were configured to enable automated alerting and maintenance work order triggers based on equipment health indicators.
ABB worked with Enel Green Power to roll out the solution across hydroelectric plants in Italy and Spain, starting from pilot sites and expanding across the fleet. Operational coverage focused on operations and maintenance teams at plant level, ingesting sensor telemetry and plant control system signals into the Asset Performance Management platform to centralize asset health visibility.
Governance followed a phased pilot to fleet expansion approach, shifting maintenance decisioning toward condition based and predictive processes and embedding analytics into routine maintenance planning. The initiative was undertaken to reduce unplanned failures and to lower maintenance OPEX, outcomes stated in the source case material.
