In 2000, Erlanger Health implemented Oracle PeopleSoft ERP as an ERP Financial system to centralize IT department administrative and accounting functions. The implementation supported departmental purchasing and fiscal workflows while aligning with hospital operations and physician office practices across the organization.
Oracle PeopleSoft ERP was configured to handle core financial modules including accounts payable, purchasing and requisitions, invoice processing, contract entry, and fiscal transaction monitoring, supporting routine review, analysis and audit of purchase orders, invoices, travel documents and credit card bills. The application was used by IT finance staff to process payment activity and maintain documentation required for payments and contract administration.
Integrations explicitly included Kronos for employee time and attendance tracking across four cost centers, and MediTract for entering contracts and amendments, with the Legal Department used for approvals. Project coordination activities referenced involvement with the Epic EMR implementation team for scheduling and budget tracking, while Oracle PeopleSoft ERP remained the primary ERP Financial record for IT fiscal transactions.
Governance and workflow restructuring centered on cross-functional coordination among the Vice President of IT and CIO, Chief Medical Information Officer, Director of Nursing Informatics, Clinical Engineering and Legal, formalizing contract routing, budget tracking and project execution processes. Operational ownership was concentrated in the IT Department for financial processing, with PeopleSoft used as the auditable financial system and Kronos and MediTract serving as integrated operational systems for timekeeping and contract lifecycle management.

In 2000 Erlanger Health implemented Oracle PeopleSoft HCM as its Core HR system. The deployment concentrated on HR and administrative functions supporting the IT Department and coordinated with clinical leadership including the Vice President of IT & CIO, Chief Medical Information Officer, Director of Nursing Informatics and Clinical Engineering.
Oracle PeopleSoft HCM served as the authoritative HR record and payroll platform, used in conjunction with Kronos to track employee time and attendance for payroll across four cost centers. Functional usage included employee records management, payroll processing workflows, and administrative HR transactions consistent with Core HR capabilities, with documented staff proficiency in PeopleSoft alongside operational tools such as MS Office, MediTract and Kronos.
Operationally PeopleSoft HCM intersected with contract and procurement processes through MediTract where IT department contracts and amendments were entered and routed for Legal approval. Financial and administrative tasks for IT were coordinated using PeopleSoft-related workflows to review, analyze, and process purchase orders, requisitions, invoices, travel documents and credit card billing, and the system supported personnel administration continuity during enterprise programs such as the Epic EMR implementation by aligning payroll and staffing administration with scheduling and budget tracking activities.
Governance and workflow responsibilities remained within IT and cross-functional hospital departments, with IT administrative staff performing audits, resolving documentation issues for payment, and monitoring fiscal transactions. Explicit operational integrations observed in Erlanger operations include Kronos for timekeeping and MediTract for contract lifecycle management, with Oracle PeopleSoft HCM providing Core HR functions for HR and payroll administration.
