Esri Technographics, Software Purchases, AI and Digital Transformation Initiatives
Discover the latest software purchases and digital transformation initiatives being undertaken by Esri and its business and technology executives. Each quarter our research team identifies on-prem and cloud applications that are being used by the 6000 Esri employees from the public (Press Releases, Customer References, Testimonials, Case Studies and Success Stories) and proprietary sources.
During our research, we have identified that Esri has purchased the following applications: SAP ERP ECC 6.0 for ERP Financial in 2012, iCIMS Recruit Applicant Tracking System for Applicant Tracking System in 2018, Adobe WorkFront for Business Process Management in 2021 and the related IT decision-makers and key stakeholders.
Our database provides customer insight and contextual information on which enterprise applications and software systems Esri is running and its propensity to invest more and deepen its relationship with SAP , iCIMS , Adobe Systems or identify new suppliers as part of their overall Digital and IT transformation projects to stay competitive, fend off threats from disruptive forces, or comply with internal mandates to improve overall enterprise efficiency.
We have been analyzing Esri revenues, which have grown to $1.30 billion in 2024, plus its IT budget and roadmap, cloud software purchases, aggregating massive amounts of data points that form the basis of our forecast assumptions for Esri intention to invest in emerging technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, IoT, Blockchain, Autonomous Database or in cloud-based ERP, HCM, CRM, EPM, Procurement or Treasury applications.

| SAP | Legacy | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2012 | 2012 |
In 2012, Esri implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as its ERP Financial backbone for core business management. The project was driven by escalating data volumes and additional applications that degraded system response, lengthened batch processes, and risked batch windows overrunning into production time.
The deployment centralized SAP ERP ECC 6.0 on IBM Power 750 servers, preserved IBM DB2 for database management, and consolidated data storage onto IBM XIV Storage Systems, with migration execution supported by IBM Migration Factory and engagement with IBM Premier Business Partner thinkASG. This architecture paired a high performance application tier, a DB2 relational database tier, and XIV automated storage provisioning to improve throughput and storage efficiency for SAP workloads.
Configuration work emphasized ERP Financial capabilities, including core financial ledgers, batch processing workflows, and database compression to reduce production volumes. Integrations explicitly tied SAP ERP ECC 6.0 to IBM DB2 at the database tier and to IBM XIV for storage management, enabling automated provisioning and operational alignment across Esri business functions.
Operational governance was updated to incorporate automated storage management and provisioning, which reduced administration effort by roughly one full-time equivalent, and DB2 compression reduced core production database volumes by 40 percent. The new IBM server platform projected annual energy consumption of 89,702 kWh, a reduction of 33,726 kWh or 27 percent, and the combined infrastructure and configuration changes addressed the prior risk of batch processes overrunning into production windows.

In 2018, Esri implemented iCIMS Recruit Applicant Tracking System as its Applicant Tracking System to manage external hiring flows and to publish job openings on its public careers site. The deployment places the iCIMS Recruit Applicant Tracking System on an externally hosted careers portal reachable from Esri’s website, supporting Talent Acquisition and HR for the 6000 employee professional services organization.
The implementation includes core applicant tracking capabilities such as job requisition publishing, candidate application intake, branded candidate portal and job search, resume parsing and candidate profile management, workflow automation for screening and interview scheduling, and hiring manager access for review and approvals. iCIMS Recruit Applicant Tracking System is configured to centralize recruiting workflows, enforce role based access for recruiters and hiring managers, and standardize requisition lifecycles and candidate communications.
Operational governance centers in Esri’s Talent Acquisition and HR teams, with the system servicing corporate recruiting and external candidate engagement across the organization. The deployment emphasizes career site embedding of the Applicant Tracking System, standardized recruiting workflows, and centralized candidate data stewardship to support compliance and operational consistency.

| Adobe Systems | Legacy | Adobe WorkFront | Business Process Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2021 | 2021 |
In 2021, Esri implemented Adobe WorkFront as a Business Process Management solution to manage web-facing content and work intake workflows. The deployment is focused on using Adobe WorkFront on their website to capture requests, route approvals, and orchestrate digital content production, positioning Esri, Adobe WorkFront, and Business Process Management in a direct relationship with web and marketing operations.
The Adobe WorkFront configuration emphasized project and portfolio management capabilities, structured request intake forms, workflow automation for approval routing, and resource planning for creative and editorial tasks. The implementation used standard Business Process Management functional patterns such as intake-to-execution pipelines, task assignments, milestone tracking, and configurable approval gates to align work across content creation and publishing processes.
Architecturally, the deployment is implemented as a cloud-hosted application embedded into Esri’s website to surface intake forms and automate handoffs from requestors to marketing and digital content teams. Integrations are explicitly focused on the website and digital content operations rather than third party product names, enabling automated request capture and status visibility for web operations and marketing departments.
Governance centered on centralizing work intake, standardizing request templates and approval workflows, and instituting role-based approvals and reporting for content lifecycle management. The rollout prioritized web and marketing teams, establishing process controls and operational workflows within Adobe WorkFront to drive consistent work orchestration for Esri’s website content and related marketing activities.
