In 2018, Beef 'O' Brady's implemented Proliant Payroll to centralize payroll processing for its corporate finance and store operations, aligning the new application with the Payroll function across its multi-entity restaurant estate. The Proliant Payroll deployment was positioned to support bi-weekly payroll cycles, payroll accrual accounting, bonus and miscellaneous payroll entries, and tip accounting processes used in corporate month close activities.
Proliant Payroll was configured to generate payroll journal entries for accounting consumption, supporting manual and automated entry workflows used by the senior corporate store accounting team. Configuration work emphasized payroll accruals, tips payable tracking, and the creation of payroll-related journal entries for intercompany and acquisition transactions, consistent with the company accounting controls described in month close procedures.
The payroll implementation operated alongside Great Plains ERP and point of sale and back of house systems listed on the finance team toolset, with explicit integrations built to streamline data entry into Great Plains. The environment included Toast, Synergy, KickFin, and Proliant Payroll, and the project prioritized accounting system interoperability by delivering payroll journals and feeds into the Great Plains general ledger to support reconciliations across 31 legal entities.
Governance and process changes accompanied the rollout, with payroll processing incorporated into existing month close workflows, tips reconciliation routines, and payroll accrual logs. Operational ownership was aligned with corporate accounting, the payables function, and store finance leads, and the finance team instituted cross training, Smartlists in Great Plains for reporting, and centralized procedures to manage payroll related entries and month end close tasks.
