In 2020, Fire & Flower Holdings deployed HigherMe Interview Scheduling to convert a centralized recruiting bottleneck into a decentralised hiring capability while the retailer scaled rapidly. The implementation targeted retail hiring workflows and HR operations, leveraging the Interview Scheduling category to standardize interview booking and candidate communications across stores.
HigherMe Interview Scheduling was configured to support job posting, applicant screening, candidate communication, interview scheduling, and employer branding controls. Store managers were empowered to manage the hiring lifecycle from screening applicants to scheduling interviews and selecting hires, while corporate maintained controls over job descriptions and brand presentation to ensure consistency across roles.
The deployment integrated HigherMe with external job distribution channels, with most applications flowing through HigherMe’s integration with Indeed and a secondary source coming from the Fire & Flower careers page on the company website. Operational coverage included 61 locations across Canada, with roughly 80 percent of the workforce in retail, and the platform supported an average intake of over 1,500 applications per month as local managers sourced talent from their communities.
Governance shifted from a centralized HR posting model to a decentralised, manager-driven process, enabling store managers to act as local recruiting owners while HR retained employment brand oversight. The new model reduced manual hiring tasks, increased efficiencies in candidate communication and scheduling, and supported rapid scale from 12 to 500 staff in under two years, demonstrating how HigherMe Interview Scheduling was embedded into Fire & Flower’s retail hiring and team relations operations.
