In 2015, G.A. West implemented Penta Construction, a Construction ERP from Penta Technologies. The deployment centralized project financials and enterprise project controls to support the company’s civil, structural, piping, and electrical business functions across project lifecycles.
Penta Construction was configured to deliver core Construction ERP capabilities including project accounting, job costing, procurement and purchase-order processing, equipment and asset management, and project billing. Configuration work focused on an enterprise chart of accounts, project-level cost breakdown structures, and role-based access controls for finance, project controls, estimators, and field operations.
The implementation integrated Penta Construction with OnBase for document management and control to align contract, submittal, and records workflows, and with Primavera scheduling and PlanSwift estimating to synchronize schedules and cost models. Additional data exchange and CAD/modeling linkages were established with Timberline Estimating, Tekla, Carlson Civil Suite, AutoCAD 2014, STADD Pro, RISA 3D, and Trimble Lika to support estimating, design coordination, and structural analysis handoffs.
Governance for the Penta Construction rollout was aligned with G.A. West’s quality management system which is working towards ISO certification, embedding documented procedures, training requirements, and quality checkpoints into project and financial workflows. System administration followed the company’s stated security practices and dual back-up operations to ensure minimal downtime, and the stated growth of the Quality Control department, which expanded by over 600% in the prior decade, supported ongoing configuration and process control.
