In 2017 Glacier Media implemented Artsyl docAlpha to automate accounts payable invoice processing using Natural Language Processing, targeting vendor invoice capture, routing and transaction entry for the Finance and Accounting organization. The deployment was framed as an intelligent process automation layer for AP, intended to eliminate manual data entry and document handling and to scale as invoice volume and velocity increased.
The implementation centered on Artsyl docAlpha data capture and extraction capabilities, configured to find and extract fields such as invoice number, amount and vendor details from scanned paper and digital invoices. The solution delivered straight through processing for routine transactions by automatically correcting obvious data errors, creating transaction records, attaching a digital image of the invoice, and routing exceptions to AP staff for review, preserving approval and payment workflows.
docAlpha was integrated with Glacier Media transactional systems by connecting to ERP and EXM systems and by cross referencing ECM vendor records, allowing vendor information to be validated as part of the capture flow. Inbound invoices were ingested via a monitored mailbox for emailed invoices or through batch scanning for paper invoices, and the platform interacted with DocLink and other ECM functions to store document images alongside the created transactions.
Governance and process changes focused on centralizing invoice routing and approval within the automated capture workflow, reducing manual sorting, double data entry and ad hoc handling by the AP team. As an outcome Glacier Media reported that combining Artsyl docAlpha with DocLink shortened cycle times from weeks to days and enabled the AP team to keep pace with growth while recovering purchasing control.
