| AVEVA Group | Legacy | AVEVA Wonderware | Asset Performance Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2020 | 2020 | In 2020, GORI Acqua implemented AVEVA Wonderware as an Asset Performance Management solution to establish centralized remote control and operational oversight for its distributed water and wastewater estate. The deployment addressed operations spanning 76 municipalities, servicing roughly 1.5 million customers across a 900 square kilometer territory, with a remote control design capable of operating up to 500 water, sewage, and treatment plants from a central control location. The implementation deployed AVEVA Wonderware components including System Platform, Access Anywhere, Historian, and Automation Objects, configured to deliver SCADA supervision, centralized historian-based data collection, reusable automation object libraries, and remote operator access from both fixed and mobile stations. Configuration work focused on real-time monitoring, alarm management, and standardized automation templates to reduce operational complexity and support field maintenance workflows. Architecturally, the solution established a centralized remote control center linked to distributed plant stations and field operator interfaces, enabling centralized command and control over collection sources, reservoirs, distribution networks, and treatment plants. The deployment emphasized historian integration for long term trend analysis and the use of automation objects to standardize control logic across many small to mid sized plants, improving consistency of operations across the network. Governance and operationalization were led by the SCADA team, who embedded the platform into routine maintenance and incident response processes, and enabled access to the platform from mobile and fixed stations to support field crews and plant operators. Outcomes reported include a 45 percent reduction in energy consumption at the Mercato Palazzo plant, representing an energy cost savings of 80,000 euros per month, and the platform has become an essential Asset Performance Management tool for ongoing operational improvement and data driven system modeling. |
