| MicroStrategy | Legacy | MicroStrategy ONE Analytics | Analytics and BI | Analytics and BI | n/a | 2014 | 2018 |
In 2014, Grange Insurance implemented MicroStrategy ONE Analytics to centralize reporting and analytics for underwriting and sales. MicroStrategy ONE Analytics served as the enterprise Analytics and BI platform supporting Commercial Lines Underwriting and Sales business functions across the organization.
Implementation work combined development and administration. As Lead MicroStrategy Developer the team architected, developed and implemented reports, dashboards and custom drilling templates for the Commercial Lines Underwriting department, and built sales reports related to agents compensation and dividend distribution. Reporting was constructed on the foundation of a Microsoft Analysis MDX cube and new product feature evaluation was conducted through proofs of concept, including a Transaction Services POC. The role also included owning Business Intelligence solutions architecture, documenting best practices and mentoring junior MicroStrategy developers.
Administrative responsibilities established operational controls and release automation. Administration tasks included auditing and ensuring user license compliance, performing product upgrades with a recent upgrade from 9.3 to 9.4.1, and creating and running Enterprise Manager reports to support performance tuning, user maintenance and object maintenance. The team automated object promotion between Dev, Test and Prod using PowerShell scripts, managing package object promotions at a cadence of approximately 10 to 20 packages per month, and administered user security by provisioning users, groups and security roles.
Governance and support processes were formalized to maintain platform integrity. The administrator acted as the final internal escalation point for MicroStrategy issues and engaged with MicroStrategy technical support to resolve cases. Regression testing was established in Integrity Manager and metadata inconsistencies were diagnosed and corrected using the Scan MD utility, providing a controlled workflow for content promotion and ongoing metadata governance.
