| Hyland | Legacy | OnBase for AP | AP Automation | ERP | n/a | 2012 | 2012 |
In 2012, H.B. Fuller implemented OnBase for AP as an AP Automation solution to consolidate accounts payable processing and document management across finance functions. The OnBase for AP deployment was positioned to streamline AP operations, reduce manual touchpoints, and enable electronic invoice capture and lifecycle tracking for the accounts payable organization.
The implementation focused on invoice capture and classification, optical character recognition and data extraction, automated matching and exception routing, configurable approval workflows, and document retention for auditability. OnBase for AP was configured to support high-volume batch processing and exception queues, and to orchestrate invoice-to-payment workflows and supplier payment coordination.
Architecturally the OnBase for AP instance integrated with SAP and Prism/JDE ERPs, Open Text as a document repository, Ariba for procurement connectivity, Concur for expense and travel invoice flows, and Manex for manufacturing system feeds. These integrations enabled staged handoffs between procurement, AP, and ERP posting processes and allowed OnBase for AP to serve as the document and workflow hub for invoice processing.
Governance for the deployment emphasized standardized approval workflows, centralized exception management, and controls to support segregation of duties in finance operations. Streamlined processes and optimized use of technology enabled H.B. Fuller to process approximately 110,000 invoices and payments totaling $680 million without additions to staff, illustrating the operational scale delivered by the AP Automation implementation.
