In 2019, Hachette Book Group implemented Oracle Cloud ERP as an ERP Financial solution to centralize finance and accounting operations across the publisher. Configuration work emphasized canonical employee data tables, benefits administration setup, payroll interface points, and lifecycle workflows for onboarding and acquisitions. UKG Pro HCM (ex UltiPro HCM) was configured to maintain data integrity through table audits and operational controls, and to manage open enrollment and employee orientation processes.
Integrations were explicitly instrumented with recruiting and people analytics tools, including Jobvite, Culture Amp, and Paradigm Reach, and the HRIS was used to orchestrate the integration of new hires and acquired companies into HR and payroll systems. Operational coordination included joint reporting processes with Finance and Payroll and technical execution with IT to synchronize employee data feeds and payroll-related interfaces.
Governance and compliance responsibilities are routed through HRIS operations and benefits management, including completion of federal and state compliance audits such as EEO-1, 5500 filings, and non-discrimination testing. The HRIS operations function also centrally manages vendor relationships for health and welfare plans and 401k providers, oversees open enrollment, and provides compensation recommendations informed by market data.

In 2019 Hachette Book Group deployed AppWorx Workload Automation. The AppWorx Workload Automation implementation, classified as Business Process Management, centralized batch job orchestration for the company’s Lebanon, IN Data Center operations and supported Computer Operations and Quality Control functions.
Configuration work focused on scheduling, automated job dependencies, monitoring and alerting, and output management including print spool handling and report distribution. The implementation included runbook and disaster recovery documentation, daily backups and level one diagnostics to sustain production schedules and meet internal and external service level agreements.
Operational integrations enabled orchestration of job streams on AS/400 platforms and MVS mainframe environments using JES2 and JCL, and interfaced with existing scheduling footprints referenced by UC4 and Automic, along with SQL-driven report generation. Touchpoints extended to peripheral devices and print infrastructure including OCE 7100 printers, handheld and tablet devices, and ServiceNow ticketing for incident capture and tracking.
Governance and process changes established standardized shift turnover reporting, updated job procedures, ongoing runbook maintenance, and training for Data Center staff to perform monitoring, printer maintenance, ad hoc job runs, and basic infrastructure diagnostics. Hachette Book Group AppWorx Workload Automation Business Process Management supported cross-functional workflows across Computer Operations, Helpdesk, printing and shipping, and reporting activities.
