In 2018, Harvey Beef implemented Microsoft Dynamics NAV as its ERP Financial back-office system to consolidate core financial management and non-meat inventory control across the Harvest Road Group site in Harvey, Western Australia. The decision followed a formal review and competitive tender process that began in late 2017, with Empired selected to implement Nav 2018 and Emydex engaged to supply a complementary factory floor processing system.
Microsoft Dynamics NAV was configured to manage core financials and non-meat inventories, aligning ERP Financial workflows such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory control and procurement with the operational needs of a mid-market meat processing business. Implementation work emphasized integration points for transaction synchronization, inventory movements and financial posting, ensuring back-office ledgers were driven by plant-level events.
The Nav 2018 deployment was integrated with an Emydex factory floor processing system that provided end-to-end factory floor capabilities including data capture, labeling and third party barcode scanning. This architecture separated plant execution from back-office financial and inventory processing, with Nav 2018 responsible for centralized financial ledgers and non-meat inventory records while Emydex managed processing line data and traceability.
Governance and rollout followed a competitive RFP and vendor selection path, with coordinated vendor responsibilities between Empired and Emydex to support integration testing and go-live sequencing. Project scope focused on stabilizing back-office ERP Financial operations and establishing a supported integration architecture between the plant execution system and Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
