The SAP S/4 HANA deployment centralized financial management and treasury capabilities, and was configured to support automated production and consumption booking for materials such as lead concentrate, zinc concentrate, finished goods and reagents. Procurement workflows were modernized with RFQ to PO automation, including touchless request for proposal creation, draft note for approval automation and rule based auction suggestions, while treasury transformation automated investment, borrowing, forex and trade finance processes to improve reporting accuracy and controls.
Architecturally the implementation was positioned on the SAP RISE cloud platform to enable faster landscape provisioning, improved resilience and cloud based operations. Integrations were explicitly implemented between SAP S/4 HANA and operational systems, including the online laboratory information management system that feeds automated lab reports into the ERP and historian systems, and an OSIsoft PI to DCS linkage used by analytical models for process automation and material feed setpoint calculations. IoT and analytics use cases such as predictive maintenance, hydrogen sensing alerts and computer vision monitoring remain connected to enterprise workflows, with auto alarm or alerting mechanisms feeding stakeholders and corrective actions.
Governance and rollout emphasized business continuity, cyber resilience and green IT objectives aligned with Hindustan Zinc’s technology roadmap, and STL Digital supported solution selection, design, commercial negotiation and implementation. In 2016, Hindustan Zinc implemented SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Global Benefits as a Benefits Administration deployment covering approximately 2,500 employees during a December 2016 to May 2017 engagement. The program was executed with HCM Info Systems as the implementation partner and a single lead consultant responsible for end to end project implementation and delivery oversight.
The implementation focused on SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Global Benefits and core HR capabilities, explicitly delivering Compensation and Benefits modules. Configuration workbooks were used to capture business requirements and sign-offs, and the team configured compensation templates, route maps, eligibility rules, custom compensation statements, salary data, budgeting constructs, and stock components. Master data was collected, verified, rectified, and built on the SAP SuccessFactors BizX platform, and compensation salary data was posted back to Employee Profile structures.
Integration work included use of the SuccessFactors Integration Center and SFTP channels to manage file-based exchanges and automated posting of compensation salary records to employee profiles. Testing and system tuning were emphasized, with business scenarios, test plans, and test data prepared to validate master data flows and compensation processing in BizX.
Governance and rollout activities covered iterative planning and execution, comprehensive user acceptance testing, change management planning, and knowledge transfer sessions for administrators and end users. The project executed go-live preparations with verification of every function in the SuccessFactors production system and included ongoing end user assistance post go-live to stabilize Benefits Administration operations.

Project Confluence implemented SAP Ariba Contracts alongside multiple Ariba modules, including Commerce Automation, Supply Chain Automation, Auction Platform, Catalogue Management, Contracts Management, pre purchase order and post purchase order collaboration, B2B Integration, and Vendor Managed Inventory. SAP Ariba Contracts served as the enterprise contract repository and lifecycle engine, supporting contract authoring, clause and template reuse, approval workflows, and obligations tracking consistent with Contract Lifecycle Management functionality.
The implementation integrated contract workflows with sourcing and catalogue management to create end to end linkage between negotiated agreements and transactional purchasing. B2B integration and VMI capabilities were part of the same Ariba landscape, enabling contract terms to be surfaced into catalogue controls, order collaboration, and supply chain automation that together covered procurement, sourcing, and supply chain operations across Hindustan Zinc.
Governance changes accompanied the rollout, with Confluence establishing a centralized contracts repository, standardized approval workflows, and tighter alignment between sourcing and procurement processes. The project is documented as having successfully digitalized the entire Procure to Pay process and Project Confluence received SAP Indias Sourcing Excellence Large Enterprise recognition at the 2020 SAP ACE Awards, reflecting the implementation focus on sourcing and contract orchestration.
