| Workday | Legacy | Workday Absence Management | Absence and Leave Management | HCM | n/a | 2016 | 2016 |
In 2016 Hiscox implemented Workday Absence Management alongside Workday HCM to centrally govern employee time off and leave policies for its approximately 3,000 employees in the United Kingdom. Workday Absence Management was deployed as the core Absence and Leave Management application within Hiscox HR, establishing a single system of record for leave entitlements and absence tracking.
The implementation configured standard absence management capabilities common to the Absence and Leave Management category, including configurable absence types and entitlements, accrual rules, automated request and approval workflows, manager self-service for approvals, and absence reporting for HR. Workday Absence Management was explicitly configured in the context of the broader Workday HCM deployment, with the Hcm and Absence Functional Lead accountable for functional design and configuration during the Jun 2015 to May 2017 implementation window.
Operational coverage focused on HR and people operations processes, with the application consuming employee master data from Workday HCM and enforcing role based approval flows and audit trails. Governance changes led by the Hcm and Absence Functional Lead included formalized policy configuration in the application, defined approval routing, and staged rollout and handover to HR operational teams. This narrative captures Hiscox Workday Absence Management Absence and Leave Management as an integrated HR application implemented and governed within the companys HR function.

In 2016 Hiscox implemented Sapiens CoreSuite for Property & Casualty as its Insurance ERP to support a strategic partnership product and support core policy administration. The initiative was delivered from a small agile program team including business analysts, a scrum master, product owners and project managers, operating under timeboxed sprints to meet a commercially driven deadline for a co-branded high net worth home insurance launch with a major bank partner.
The Sapiens CoreSuite for Property & Casualty deployment focused on policy configuration and product lifecycle capabilities, document composition for co-branded customer communications, payment and collections workflows including bulk direct debit transfers, and data migration using ETL processes to onboard partner portfolios. Operational activities also encompassed printing setup, recruitment of servicing desks and role-based training to align underwriting and customer operations with the new platform.
Technical integration work extended the Sapiens platform into digital and partner channels, delivering a Backbase driven web and mobile customer journey and publishing APIs for internal and external third parties. API tooling and runtime choices cited in the program included Apigee, Apache Camel and Amazon Web Services, with APIs implemented on top of the Sapiens core to enable partner connectivity and third party orchestration.
Governance combined agile delivery practices with compliance and change management, the business analyst practice capturing regulatory requirements related to IDD and GDPR and participating in Brexit impact planning. The program completed within time and budget, and it established first‑time API publishing capabilities for Hiscox on top of Sapiens CoreSuite for Property & Casualty, enabling ongoing partner integrations and channel expansion.

| Tableau Software | Legacy | Tableau | Analytics and BI | Analytics and BI | n/a | 2017 | 2017 |
In 2017, Hiscox deployed Tableau as its Visual Analytics platform within its Analytics and BI footprint to enable users to quickly analyse data and surface trends. Tableau is used to create interactive dashboards and stories that can be consumed on computer, tablet, or mobile devices, providing a consistent authoring and consumption experience across form factors.
Implementation emphasized self service visual analytics with interactive dashboarding, narrative stories, centralized publishing, and ad hoc exploration, reflecting standard Analytics and BI capabilities for combining disparate data and surfacing insights. The Tableau deployment supported separation of authoring and consumption, with published workbooks and dashboards organized for cross functional visibility and role oriented access to content.
Operational adoption was supported by a recurring enablement program, including fortnightly enablement webinars that teach tips and tricks for using Tableau every day and drive user proficiency. Governance focused on publishing controls, content curation, and training workflows to help teams share insights while maintaining oversight, aligning the implementation to Hiscox business users who need fast, shareable visual analytics for decision making.
