In 2016, Hrmonious implemented IRIS Payroll Professional (formerly Star Payroll) from IRIS Software as a cloud Payroll deployment to support its payroll service-bureau clients. The deployment targeted US payroll and HR processing for the company and for client sites, with a highlighted use case at a South Jersey water agency.
The implementation centered on the IRIS Payroll Professional payroll module with configuration for payroll processing, tax calculation, garnishments, and client self-service portals to enable client-managed payroll submissions and employee self-service. Functional capabilities implemented included employer and employee record management, pay cycle automation, and compliance-focused payroll reporting consistent with the Payroll category.
The solution was provisioned as an IRIS cloud payroll environment serving Hrmonious’ service-bureau clients, enabling centralized administration by Hrmonious while delegating routine tasks through client self-service. Operational coverage included internal payroll staff at Hrmonious and external client administrators, reflecting a shared service model for small professional services operations and their client sites.
Governance and workflow changes shifted transactional activity onto client self-service with centralized oversight, role-based access, and process controls to manage multi-client configurations. The case study documents significant time savings for an in-house payroll manager at the South Jersey water agency and states the deployment delivered improved operational efficiency and client growth.
