In 2014 Hyundai Motors America implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 to centralize ERP Financial operations across its manufacturing and corporate finance footprint. The deployment targeted financial management and accounting workflows, aligning general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets and financial reporting capabilities under SAP ERP ECC 6.0 for finance and accounting teams supporting manufacturing sites.
The implementation was delivered on a multi-UNIX server architecture, with SAP ERP ECC 6.0 running on Oracle Solaris, HPUX, Linux and IBM AIX hosts. Configuration and operational automation included playbooks authored for Ansible to manage bulk system changes, combined with scheduled OS patching, firmware upgrades and cluster failover testing to support high availability for ERP Financial processes.
Storage and recovery architecture supporting SAP ERP ECC 6.0 included NetApp storage constructs such as FlexVols, storage aggregates, RAID groups, SnapVault for backups and archiving, and SnapMirror for data migrations and replication. Enterprise backup and restore was implemented with Veritas NetBackup across large switched environments and multiple media servers and tape libraries, with SRDF and TimeFinder used for additional replication and copy services, and zoning on Brocade and Cisco MDS switches for SAN isolation.
Operational scope covered Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, KIA Motor Manufacturing Georgia, Hyundai Motors Manufacturing Brazil and Kia Motors Manufacturing Mexico, with system administration processes including storage allocation, daily batch processing monitoring and web site availability checks. Governance and runbook activities documented include cluster failover testing, disaster recovery replication, backup and retention procedures, storage area networking operations and vendor coordination for hardware repairs and new system implementations.
