In 2016, IBS Capital Allies moved its IT infrastructure and back-office operations onto SS&C Advent’s Advent Outsourcing Services AOS platform, shifting responsibility for hosting, monitoring, and infrastructure maintenance to the vendor. The deployment consolidated multiple on-premise servers into a vendor-hosted environment with dual site disaster recovery across London and Stockholm and near follow-the-sun operations monitoring, improving operational stability and simplifying maintenance for the firm.
IBS Capital Allies implemented a full suite of SS&C Advent solutions for Portfolio and Investment Management, including portfolio management, reporting, trading, portfolio construction and rebalancing, a client portal, Advent Market Data AMD for pricing and security information, Advent Portfolio Data APD for account-level data, and SS&C Advent Genesis as the cloud-based trade order creation platform. The configuration was upgraded to the latest technology releases at the time, enabling daily performance measurement by security rather than monthly by asset class and supporting more flexible reporting by sector, industry, asset class, and period.
Operational integrations were implemented with custodians via direct APD connections, and with Bloomberg pricing feeds routed through AMD, which reduced the need for IBS staff to chase missing files and simplified adding new custodian interfaces. The environment also included managed services for back-office processing, introduced in the third quarter of 2017, where a dedicated SS&C Advent team took on reconciliations and daily processing tasks, accelerating issue detection and reducing the time to surface reconciliation exceptions by about one hour.
Governance and workflow changes centered on outsourcing continuity and expertise, with SS&C Advent providing monitoring, incident handling, and specification governance for optimal product operation. The move produced clearer audit trails, improved dashboard visibility into reconciliation status and remediation steps, and offered potential cost avoidance on headcount through scalable managed services. Future operational plans described by the firm include deploying a state-of-the-art reporting package and streamlining end-to-end client onboarding and information flows within the SS&C Advent ecosystem.
