| Microsoft | Microsoft Dynamics AX | Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2019 | 2019 |
In 2019, iDesign implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as its ERP Financial platform, replacing Microsoft Dynamics AX. The implementation targeted core finance and supply chain operations for the global housewares and home fashions firm that ships to over 40 countries, and it involved cross functional coverage of New Product Set-Up, demand planning, sourcing, supply chain management and shipment processes.
The Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central deployment focused on configuring financial management and operational modules aligned to demand planning, procurement, inventory and shipment workflows. Business analysts led requirements elicitation through Joint Application Design sessions, created use cases and swim lane diagrams, developed process flow diagrams in MS Visio, and maintained a Requirements Traceability Matrix in JIRA to map requirements to design and test artifacts. Prototypes were validated with configuration specialists and formal UAT test plans, scenarios and cases were authored and executed to verify transaction flows.
The project built explicit integrations between Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Red Prairie, PLM Centric, the corporate web intranet, vendor portals and EDI applications, with interfaces instrumented to monitor EDI data flows and ensure operational connectivity. Data reporting and feeds were handled via Teradata, SQL and MS Excel, while collaboration and document control used Confluence, SharePoint, JIRA and Microsoft Teams to coordinate work and track defects.
Delivery and governance adopted agile practices with daily scrums, sprint planning, sprint reviews and active sprint tracking in JIRA, and the team managed tickets for bugs and enhancements from initial build through UAT. End user transition activities included pilot training, facilitated UAT with business teams, and a documented user manual for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central which assisted end users migrating from Microsoft Dynamics AX to the new ERP Financial environment.
