Sterling Talent Solutions Legacy Sterling Background Check BackGround Screening HCM n/a 2021 2021
In 2021, Ingevity Corporation deployed Sterling Background Check to standardize BackGround Screening across its Talent Acquisition function. The implementation supported a Talent Acquisition Coordinator based in North Charleston who coordinated an average of 48 interviews per quarter and managed full cycle recruiting for contract roles across multiple business units and sites, using Sterling Background Check to process and monitor candidate clearance prior to hire including coordination of drug screens. The Sterling Background Check implementation focused on order processing, discrepancy review, and clearance workflows characteristic of BackGround Screening platforms. Recruiters and coordinators used Sterling Background Check to place screening orders, review returned reports for discrepancies, flag items for adjudication, and record final clearances, and the team trained new staff on order processing in Sterling Background Check and Quest systems to ensure consistent handling of screening and drug test orders. Sterling Background Check operated alongside Workday HRIS for requisition posting and candidate tracking, and alongside Quest for drug screening workflows, creating an operational landscape where screening, HRIS, and medical testing systems were used in tandem. Screening status and related data were maintained alongside recruiting reports used for YTD hires and diversity statistics, and the recruiting workflow interfaced operationally with Coupa for cost center allocation and budget approvals for contract workers. Governance emphasized process controls, training, and operational handoffs, with recruiters monitoring the Sterling Background Check queue to clear candidates for hire and reviewing discrepancies before authorization to onboard. The team documented procedures, administered training on Sterling Background Check order processing, and provided support to resolve system issues encountered by candidates or staff, embedding screening as a repeatable workflow within Talent Acquisition.
