In 2016 Innovation Credit Union implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as its ERP Financial platform. The deployment sat within a broader IT modernization program spanning 450 users across 19 sites, with an environment that included 900 servers and four datacenters, and targeted core financial and operational consolidation.
The implementation focused on the Dynamics 365 ERP suite of products with configuration aligned to ERP Financial requirements, including core financial management, transaction processing, and general ledger orchestration. The ERP design leveraged enterprise architecture principles to support business process reengineering and information architecture, and configuration work addressed integration points for banking operations and reporting workflows.
Architecturally the program included a migration of the on premise SQL Data Warehouse to an Azure Platform as a Service estate using Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, Synapse and Azure Analysis Services, and a shift of reporting from SSRS to Power BI Pro and Power BI Premium. Dynamics 365 Business Central was integrated with banking platforms and the Business Intelligence stack, servers were migrated from on premise datacenters to a hosted environment, and supporting platforms such as Splunk Enterprise Security and an Azure Windows Virtual Desktop environment were deployed.
Governance and operational controls were instituted through an Enterprise Architecture framework implemented with Dragon1, used to drive ERP design, data governance, and business process reengineering. Formal assessments and programs included a COBIT assessment and roadmap, IT service management implementation, and an enterprise security assessment and remediation roadmap, with unified communications migrations to Office 365, Skype for Business, and Microsoft Teams integrated with Dynamics 365 CRM for customer interaction tracking.
