Ascender Legacy AscenderPay Payroll HCM n/a 2014 2014
In 2014, Insurance Commission of Western Australia implemented AscenderPay in a Payroll deployment focused on the HR Division and client payroll operations. The implementation sat alongside ongoing responsibility for the Alesco HRMIS and centralized production of payroll reporting, templates and forms for the division. AscenderPay was configured to support core payroll processing workflows, including creation of payroll templates and forms, the LMS Replacement customization combined with a Flexitime customization, and a simplified Severance Calculator for the VTSS scheme. Configuration work emphasized payroll data capture, timesheet handling and payroll reporting capabilities consistent with Payroll system functional expectations. The program included an upgrade of AscenderPay and a transition to a hosted environment, with the project lead acting as Subject Matter Expert for the hosted migration, leading testing cycles and contributing to business continuity plan development. Deployment architecture therefore moved operational responsibility toward a hosted service model while retaining in-house control of payroll template management and reporting. Governance activity covered identifying key business improvements and implementing process and policy changes, coordinating rollout tasks and production reporting for the HR Division. The implementation narrative centers on operationalizing AscenderPay as the enterprise Payroll engine, enabling standardized payroll templates, custom payroll logic for VTSS severance, and managed hosted operations.
