In 2012 Irving Oil implemented Oracle E-Business Suite as its ERP Financial platform. The deployment was scoped to address core finance requirements while extending functional coverage into supply chain, human capital management and projects to meet the stated technical and functional objectives.
Implementation work focused on Oracle Financials, Oracle Supply Chain, Oracle HCM and Oracle Projects, with configuration and solution design aligned to general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed asset accounting, procurement, inventory control, core HR, payroll and project costing. Oracle E-Business Suite was configured to support end-to-end transactional flows within those modules and to enforce accounting and project accounting controls consistent with enterprise financial governance.
The architecture used modular instances of Oracle E-Business Suite to separate financial processing from HCM and project workloads, leveraging Oracle E-Business Suite standard application interfaces and batch processing patterns for operational throughput. Deployments emphasized technical solutions that mapped functional requirements to application configuration, customizations where necessary, and automation of recurring financial and project accounting processes.
Governance was organized around centralized application configuration control and staged rollouts by business function, with defined cutover sequencing for finance, supply chain, HCM and projects. Change control and ongoing configuration management were implemented to maintain alignment between business process requirements and Oracle E-Business Suite configurations across Irving Oil's corporate operations.
