In 2018 Key Travel implemented Mercer Darwin Benefits formerly Thomsons Online Benefits as its Benefits Administration platform. Mercer Darwin Benefits served as the central Benefits Administration system supporting HR, Payroll and Recruitment workflows for the companys Manchester HR team within the leisure and hospitality business.
The implementation focused on lifecycle event handling and employee data maintenance, with configuration to manage new starter onboarding, leaver processing, and inter-departmental changes. Core functional capability usage included benefits enrollment and administration, maintenance of employee benefits records, and coordination of annual tasks such as salary and bonus reviews and annual leave adjustments.
Operationally Mercer Darwin Benefits was maintained in close alignment with the companys HRIS SD Worx and the Payroll function, with monthly information packages produced for the Payroll Manager covering absence, starters, leavers, maternity and paternity events, benefits and departmental changes. The HR and Recruitment Coordinator functioned as the primary system operator for Darwin, updating and maintaining accurate information from starters through to leavers and supporting invoice processing for UK and EU benefits billing.
Governance and workflow design emphasized strict reporting cadences and defined handoffs between recruitment onboarding, HR administration and payroll reconciliation, including scheduling exit interviews and tracking probation and performance review cycles.
