In 2017 Koppers implemented Microsoft Dynamics NAV to provide ERP Financial capabilities for core finance and purchasing functions across the enterprise. The engagement centered on Microsoft Dynamics NAV as the primary application supporting general ledger, accounts payable workflows, and purchasing process orchestration within the ERP Financial scope.
Implementation work included extensive modifications to NAV objects and the development of custom interfaces that integrate with Microsoft Dynamics NAV, driven by internal application development resources. The team managed and performed NAV version upgrades including 2013, 2015 and 2017, and provided configuration and development support aligned to ERP Financial workflows.
Integrations were explicit and operational, including modification and support of a mobile purchasing application, Anveo, tied into NAV procurement workflows. Development and rollout support for Microsoft Dynamics NAV covered implementations in the US, Canada, China, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, while development execution was coordinated across developer teams located in the US, India and Europe.
Governance and delivery practices were centralized around standardizing development standards, assigning requested modifications to distributed developers, and operating a support system to manage ongoing changes. These governance activities framed how Microsoft Dynamics NAV was governed as the ERP Financial backbone for Koppers.

In 2014, Koppers implemented Workday HCM to establish a Core HR platform supporting more than 2,000 employees globally. The deployment served as the enterprise Human Resources Information System and covered HR operations across nine manufacturing facilities.
Functional modules delivered included Benefits, Time Tracking, Performance Management, Recruiting, Payroll, Absence Management, and core personal data management, operated through Workday HCM. The implementation team configured and maintained Workday business processes, created custom and scheduled reports with the Workday report writer, and managed EIB-based automation for high volume transactions.
Integrations and data movement were executed through EIB loads and data conversion from external systems, with EIB templates used to Create Position, Hire, Request Comp Change, submit Payroll Input, and Update Workday Account. Workday HCM received converted datasets from external sources to support hire, payroll, and compensation workflows, and scheduled reporting plus EIB automation were used for ongoing HR data operations.
Governance responsibilities included full security administration for Workday, covering user access provisioning, role assignments, and user-based security groups. The HRIS function prepared manager and employee user guides, conducted on-site and remote training sessions, and partnered with HR business partners to clean up employee data and organization charts for nine manufacturing facilities. Operational readiness was supported by completion of Workday HCM Fundamentals, Report Writer, and Payroll Processing training.
