| Oracle | Legacy | Oracle E-Business Suite | ERP Financial | ERP | Rimini Street | 2018 | 2018 |
In 2018, Korean Airlines implemented Oracle E-Business Suite as its primary ERP Financial platform. The implementation sits within a broader Oracle portfolio that Korean Airlines later consolidated under a single third party support agreement with Rimini Street, following an earlier Rimini Street engagement for Oracle Siebel CRM in 2019.
The Oracle E-Business Suite deployment focused on core financial management capabilities typical for ERP Financial applications, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management and financial reporting, with extensions to procurement and transaction posting workflows as part of standard configuration workstreams. The Oracle E-Business Suite instance was configured to operate alongside Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle Database components that remain in the company inventory.
Operationally the Oracle estate, including Oracle E-Business Suite, Fusion Middleware and Database, was moved to an AWS hosted environment as part of subsequent infrastructure work, and Rimini Street extended its annual support to cover AWS hosted instances. The implementation and support model centrally involved the ERP team within the IT organization, led by ERP team leader Seongyeon Park, and served finance, procurement and treasury business functions.
Governance shifted to a consolidated support and maintenance arrangement with Rimini Street, which now provides single vendor support across the Oracle portfolio. Korean Airlines reported outcomes that were explicitly stated, including reduced Oracle software maintenance costs, more responsive and proactive support for mission critical enterprise software, and the redeployment of internal IT resources to other strategic projects.

In 2022, Korean Air implemented Workday HCM to consolidate its Core HR capabilities across the airline's human resources function. The deployment covered HR operations for Korean Air, which employs approximately 17,992 people and operates from South Korea with international operations, aligning the company Application Core HR relationship under a single cloud HR platform.
Workday HCM was configured to deliver core employee record management and organizational management, position and headcount controls, talent and performance management, compensation administration, absence and time tracking, and HR reporting and analytics. The implementation emphasized canonical workforce data and standardized employee lifecycle workflows typical of Core HR, with configuration to support local HR process requirements.
The deployment used a cloud-delivered SaaS architecture to establish a centralized HR data model and single source of truth for workforce information, with role-based security and permissioning for HR administrators, managers, and people managers. Workday HCM provided the application framework for workforce planning and HR operational processes across the organization.
Governance was structured around centralized configuration control, change management for HR processes, and operational ownership within HR to enforce consistent data models and approval workflows. The approach prioritized standardized Core HR operations, centralized governance, and configurable business processes to support ongoing HR administration and talent management.

In 2009, Korean Airlines implemented Amadeus E-Retail to develop a new internet booking engine for its direct online sales channel. The implementation is documented as the KE IBE development project with project leadership beginning in October 2009 and continuing into ongoing operations, centered on Amadeus E-Retail as the core application for Reservation and Booking Management.
Amadeus E-Retail was configured to support standard Reservation and Booking Management capabilities, including online shopping and itinerary construction, fare pricing and rules application, booking confirmation and passenger name record creation, and ancillary merchandising workflows. Configuration work focused on web booking flows and e-commerce checkout orchestration consistent with airline retailing and passenger sales functions.
The internet booking engine integration scope included connectivity to Korean Airlines inventory and ticketing functions and alignment with the carrier s direct online sales channels and customer-facing website. Operational coverage emphasized passenger sales and e-commerce teams, with the Amadeus E-Retail application serving as the booking and retailing layer that interfaces with inventory and distribution processes.
Governance for the KE IBE project centered on a designated project leader for the Amadeus E-Retail deployment, with sustained configuration and release management to accommodate fare, schedule and merchandising changes. Process changes emphasized booking workflow standardization and ongoing coordination between commercial, e-commerce and reservations operations to maintain the live internet booking engine.
