| Snowflake | Legacy | Snowflake Data Warehouse | Data Warehouse | Analytics and BI | n/a | 2020 | 2020 |
In 2020, Kount implemented Snowflake Data Warehouse. Kount, an Equifax company, collects and analyzes signals from 32 billion interactions per year to power its Identity Trust Platform and adopted Snowflake Data Warehouse on AWS as the cloud source of truth to support Data Warehouse workloads and large scale data exploration.
The implementation consolidated structured and semi structured transaction and account data into Snowflake as a centralized data lake, leveraging separate storage and compute to allow data scientists to scale compute independently of storage costs. Functional capabilities emphasized included native handling of structured and semi structured data, complex SQL aggregations for feature generation, and Snowflake Secure Data Sharing for controlled provisioning of datasets.
Snowflake Data Warehouse was integrated with Kount’s machine learning toolset using connectors, drivers, and supported programming languages to streamline the data pipeline for model training and scoring. Kount exposed Data on Demand to enterprise customers through Snowflake Data Marketplace to simplify discovery and combined analysis of transaction data, enabling marketing and analytics teams at customer organizations to perform advanced cohort and purchasing behavior analysis.
Governance and workflow changes centralized Snowflake as the single source of truth to improve data transparency and to standardize feature engineering inputs. The team rearchitected feature engineering pipelines to run against Snowflake and planned to migrate Python based pipeline steps into Snowpark to execute more data preparation inside the Data Warehouse, while using Snowflake’s sharing capabilities to manage external customer access.
Kount used Snowflake Data Warehouse to productize raw transaction data as Data on Demand, increasing the number of data points available to customers by 10x and enabling a new marketplace offering. The company reported up to 100x faster complex query execution for data science workloads compared to prior database solutions, and cited reduced data preparation friction that allowed data scientists to focus more on model building and exploration.
