In 2019, LIUNA deployed Appian BPM Suite as a Process Mining solution to modernize membership services across its North American organization. The Appian BPM Suite implementation established a cloud-based application platform intended to accelerate service delivery and improve visibility into core labor relations and member interactions.
The deployment centralized a membership management application called LiUNA Link!, leveraging Appian BPM Suite’s process automation, native mobile access, social collaboration interface, and deep data integration capabilities. Configuration work emphasized standardized workflow orchestration, membership record workflows, and mobile-enabled task routing to extend capabilities for a growing mobile workforce.
Appian’s cloud architecture and data integration were used to connect union employees, members, and contractors across more than 400 local affiliates, 40 district councils, and hundreds of funds organizations. Operational coverage included membership administration, bargaining support workflows, and fund organization processes, bringing a unified process management layer to previously fragmented touch points.
LIUNA executed a process overhaul to standardize workflows, centralize data collection, and align governance across affiliates and district councils. Rollout activities focused on training, standardized operational procedures, and use of Appian BPM Suite’s collaboration features to support cross-organizational approvals and communications.
The Appian BPM Suite deployment increased visibility and accessibility of core labor relations, accelerated service delivery, and delivered more consistent training and workflow execution across the union network. LIUNA positions Appian BPM Suite as a primary data collection and orchestration layer that supports membership services, labor relations, and operational efficiency.

In 2021, Liuna implemented Zoom as its Audio Video and Web Conferencing solution embedded on the public liuna.org website. The deployment exposes Zoom meeting join flows directly from the website, enabling browser-based audio and video participation for members and staff without requiring a separate client download. This configuration positions Zoom to support member engagement, virtual town halls, and staff collaboration through web-delivered meeting access.
Functional capabilities implemented with Zoom include hosted video meetings, audio conferencing, screen sharing, in-meeting chat, and meeting recording accessible via the site, reflecting typical Audio Video and Web Conferencing workflows. Operationally the implementation requires coordination between web operations and communications teams to publish join links, manage access controls, and schedule events visible on the public site. Governance elements center on web-based access control and meeting publishing practices to control participant access and event visibility.
