In 2022, LIDL US implemented GK CLOUD4RETAIL as its Point Of Sale application. The rollout is positioned within a multi-year collaboration with the Schwarz Group to convert POS software to the CLOUD4RETAIL open platform, aligning store checkout infrastructure with modern cloud architectures.
GK CLOUD4RETAIL deployment focuses on Point Of Sale capabilities that enable seamless integration of mobile in-store services and close dovetailing with digital offers, leveraging an open expansion concept and unified platform support for mobile solutions. The implementation emphasizes cloud-native operation models, modular POS functionality, and extensibility for additional customer-facing services.
Operational coordination is being managed between GK Software and Schwarz IT, combined with Lidl in-house developments and next-generation cloud-based IT platforms. The program also includes joint activities to facilitate modern cloud operations with STACKIT and to address IT security with XM Cyber, reflecting integrated platform and security considerations for store operations.
Governance and rollout are structured to accelerate the digitalisation of the group’s stores, enabling faster implementation of innovations and requirements through a unified POS platform. GK Software’s long-standing partnership with Lidl since 1999 supports continuity in POS expertise, while the move to GK CLOUD4RETAIL explicitly aims to provide modern cloud technology, an open expansion concept, and consolidated support for mobile and digital retail services.
