In 2022 Lords Group Trading implemented Merlin ERP as its ERP Financial platform to consolidate accounting processes across the group following the acquisition of Alloway Timber Builders Merchants. The deployment centered on the finance function, bringing accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury and management reporting onto Merlin ERP and aligning the acquired entity to Lords accounting procedures.
Merlin ERP was configured to support core financial modules including AP, AR, treasury management and management accounts production. Configuration work included mapping Lords chart of accounts and reporting structures, establishing user roles and permissions for the AP/AR/Treasury team, and embedding Lords accounting procedures into transaction workflows.
The program included a data migration from Sage accounting software used by Alloway Timber into the Merlin ERP environment. Operational coverage extended across the acquired Alloway business and Lords Plc finance teams, with a formal training rollout that reached more than 70 colleagues to standardize day to day processing and month end reporting.
Governance changes included standardizing management account templates and introducing SLT reporting through the new system, with the Financial Controller responsible for preparing and reporting management accounts in line with Lords reporting systems. The implementation delivered explicit operational outcomes recorded in project notes, including the completion of the transition from Sage to Merlin software and a reduction in debtors of over 20 percent through strengthened AR supervision and process adherence.
