| Oracle | Legacy | Oracle Fusion Cloud Financials Accounts Payable | AP Automation | ERP | Mastek | 2019 | 2020 |
In 2019, M Group Services engaged Mastek to deploy Oracle Fusion Cloud Financials Accounts Payable as part of a multi-year Oracle Cloud programme. The Oracle Fusion Cloud Financials Accounts Payable implementation sits within the AP Automation category and was delivered as a component of a broader ERP, SCM, HCM and Payroll rollout across the Group.
The implementation included a mix of native Oracle Cloud Financials capabilities and bespoke integrations. Mastek developed a custom cost transfer solution to manage timesheet data upload and payroll costing that interfaces with Oracle General Ledger Cloud. A Financial Director cost report was created to extract costing data for validation and approval, and a custom subcontracting application hosted on Mastek PaaS was built to create AFP records which trigger Accounts Payable invoices in Oracle Fusion Cloud Financials Accounts Payable.
Integrations were extensive and explicit, the subcontracting PaaS application consumes supplier master data from Cloud supplier records and receives contract information from a separate PaaS Customer Billing application. Project financials data is used to map contracts and customer details into Accounts Receivable, and a customer invoice creation app provides both a simplified UI and Excel upload paths that feed into Oracle Accounts Receivable. The custom CVR approval workflow on PaaS manages cost approvals and then interfaces approved costs into Oracle General Ledger Cloud.
Deployment followed a phased technical approach, beginning in April 2019 with first modules going live in April 2020, and concluding with Group-wide transition of HR, Finance and Procurement modules by July 2023. The programme established a shared service model, engaged stakeholders across M Group Services operations spanning approximately 240 locations and 11,000 staff, and used tight scope control and a clear target operating model to govern rollout. Mastek acted as the system integrator, delivering HR, Payroll, Finance, Project, Supply Chain and CIS modules over successive waves.
Outcomes explicitly reported include consolidated and rationalised data within the ERP solution, standardised procure-to-pay and other finance processes, reduced administrative overhead and paper, improved employee self-service for HR tasks, and strengthened CIS control and subcontracting compliance. Oracle Fusion Cloud Financials Accounts Payable was a central element in achieving process standardisation and integration across Finance, Procurement, Projects and Payroll functions.

In 2019, M Group Services implemented Oracle Cloud HCM as a central element of a broader Finance and HR transformation. The deployment targeted Core HR consolidation and sought to standardize HR, payroll and workforce management processes across the organisation.
The programme design, led by an Oracle Cloud Programme Manager, encompassed solution design across Finance, HR, Payroll, Procurement, Oracle PBCS and utilities specific applications, with Oracle Cloud HCM providing the Core HR foundation. Configuration and functional workstreams included payroll and workforce administration, employee data management, payroll interfacing and integration planning for procurement and financial planning modules, while phase 2 scope explicitly included onboarding recent acquisitions and rolling out Inventory, Projects, Expenses and a Time and Labour solution.
The programme managed all implementation phases through to successful go live across multiple divisions throughout 2020, executing a cloud based deployment model for Oracle Cloud HCM and related modules. Stakeholder engagement extended to CEO and CFO level, with the programme manager chairing ExeCo and SteerCo meetings to steward design decisions, approvals and cross functional cutover plans.
Phase 1 was delivered to time and budget and the programme progressed to phase 2 focused on acquisition onboarding and extension of operational capabilities for inventory, projects, expenses and time and labour. Governance emphasis included executive steering, phased rollouts across divisions and program level change controls to align HR and finance processes within Oracle Cloud HCM and associated financial modules.
