| MYOB | Legacy | MYOB Exo | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2019 | 2019 |
In 2019, Mainfreight implemented MYOB Exo to support core ERP Financial functions across its New Zealand operations, with a particular focus on payroll and financial recordkeeping for more than 2000 team members. The deployment positioned MYOB Exo as the central ERP Financial ledger and employee financial record store used to support multiple pay frequencies and pay elements across the business.
The MYOB Exo implementation encompassed configuration of payroll-related financial workflows, employee master data management, and recurring month-to-month financial reporting for branch management. Configuration work reflected operational requirements to handle Monthly salaried payroll, Fortnightly runs, Contractor payments, and Weekly casual wages, and to record new starts, leave types, overtime, deductions, and termination pays within the ERP Financial framework.
Mainfreight integrated MYOB Exo with its payroll execution system Pay Global, enabling transactional handoff of payroll entries and statutory deductions such as PAYE, child support, and court-ordered deductions. Operational coverage included payroll administrators based in Auckland who managed data entry and pay run processing, and a national support footprint that liaised with branch managers and team members across Mainfreight’s branch network for reporting and query resolution.
Governance and process changes centered on centralizing payroll data entry and standardizing month-to-month reporting for branch managers, while payroll administrators implemented efficient processing procedures where applicable. The implementation narrative reflects a combined application and payroll operations model, with MYOB Exo serving as the ERP Financial backbone integrated with Pay Global for payroll execution and statutory deduction handling.

In 2019 Mainfreight implemented MYOB PayGlobal to centralize Payroll processing for its New Zealand transportation operations, supporting a company with 10,393 employees while managing payroll for more than 2,000 active team members. The deployment targeted multi-frequency payroll needs, covering monthly salaried staff, fortnightly employees, contractors, and weekly casual wages under the MYOB PayGlobal Payroll application.
MYOB PayGlobal was configured to handle core payroll modules and transactional workflows, including employee data entry for new starts, leave type management, overtime calculations, deductions and termination pays. The implementation encompassed statutory payroll processing such as PAYE, child support and court-ordered deductions, and established month-to-month reporting routines for Branch Managers and Administrators.
Operational coverage extended nationally, with payroll administrators liaising with branch managers and team members across Mainfreight to resolve queries and maintain data quality. The environment is operated alongside MYOB EXO according to administrator proficiency notes, and the internal team assisted with the implementation from scope definition to go live, embedding operational processes and procedural controls.
Governance changes focused on formalizing employee lifecycle transactions, standardizing pay cycle workflows and instituting consistent reporting and query handling for branches. The rollout emphasized process efficiency and ongoing operational support for payroll administrators using MYOB PayGlobal within Mainfreight Payroll operations.

| IRIS Software | Legacy | IRIS Innervision | Lease Management | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2015 | 2015 |
In 2015 Mainfreight implemented IRIS Innervision as its Lease Management application to centralize lease accounting and IFRS 16 compliance for the New Zealand business. The deployment was scoped to support the Transport and Warehousing divisions including Mainfreight Limited, Daily Freight (1994) Limited and Owens Transport Limited, and to embed lease data into the finance reporting cycle.
IRIS Innervision was configured to capture lease contracts, maintain a lease register, calculate right of use asset amortization and lease liability schedules, and produce accounting journal entries and disclosure outputs aligned to IFRS 16. The finance team used IRIS Innervision to upload and manage lease data for monthly profit and loss reporting and for the domestic IFRS 16 ledger entries, aligning lease measurement with existing financial close workflows.
Operational integration work centered on coordinating lease data flows with the corporate financial ledger On Account and the Mainstreet operational platform, managed through collaboration with Mainfreight internal IT and software developer Sandfields. This coordination focused on data reconciliation, structured data feeds, and maintaining consistent rules and flows between operational lease events and financial accounting records across branches in New Zealand.
Governance and rollout emphasized finance-led process ownership, with senior accounting staff responsible for training branch finance teams and Financial Controllers on lease upload procedures and IFRS 16 controls. Implementation activities included configuration, testing, user training, and the establishment of ongoing operations for managing lease data within IRIS Innervision to support Mainfreight finance and accounting functions.
