| SAP | Legacy | SAP ERP ECC 6.0 | ERP Financial | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2011 | 2011 |
In 2011 Marathon Oil implemented SAP ERP ECC 6.0 as an ERP Financial deployment, executing a full life cycle project from project preparation to GoLive using the ASAP methodology. The SAP ERP ECC 6.0 implementation targeted financial control and inventory governance across procurement, warehouse, and finance functions.
The engagement included extensive work in SAP WM, IM, and MM modules, with cutover activities that combined manual configuration and data remediation. Responsibilities covered number range setup, data cleansing for storage bins and negative stock conditions in existing inventory records, and financial validation of inventory loads. Transport management setup, partner profiles, port profiles, and closure of open receipts and shipments were also executed as part of the cutover process.
Warehouse recurring configuration tasks were formalized, defining warehouse number, assigning warehouse number to plant and storage location, setting warehouse control parameters, and establishing storage types, storage sections, storage type indicators and associated number ranges. Procure-to-Pay lifecycle capabilities were implemented end to end, covering Purchase Requirement, Request for Quotation, Purchase Order, source determination, vendor selection, goods receipt and invoicing, aligning MM workflows with financial posting requirements in the ERP Financial instance.
Governance and process workstreams included workshops to capture material flow and setup requirements with process teams, documentation of AS-IS and design of To-Be business processes, and leading cutover activities to ensure data validation and transactional integrity at GoLive. The implementation centered on operationalizing SAP ERP ECC 6.0 across procurement, warehouse operations, and financial verification workflows without external implementation partner attribution.

| SAP | Legacy | SAP SuccessFactors Compensation | Compensation Management | HCM | n/a | 2015 | 2015 |
In 2015, Marathon Oil implemented SAP SuccessFactors Compensation as a core element of its Compensation Management program. The deployment was executed alongside a broader Talent Management agenda using the SuccessFactors HCM Suite while maintaining an on premise SAP HCM instance to support HR data cleanup and reconciliation.
Marathon Oil configured SAP SuccessFactors Compensation to support merit, bonus and salary planning workflows, integrating performance outcomes from SuccessFactors Performance Management and Goals Management to inform compensation decisions. The SAP SuccessFactors Compensation implementation included configuration of compensation cycles, pay component structures and multi stage approval workflows consistent with enterprise HR policy.

The integration architecture centered on feeding Performance Management and Goals Management results into compensation calculations and ensuring reconciliation with the on premise SAP HCM dataset.
Operational ownership rested with HR and Talent Management, covering recruitment, on boarding, performance, compensation and learning functional areas. Marathon Oil led benefits open enrollment for multiple years and instituted centralized interface governance and ongoing data quality processes to sustain the Compensation Management environment.
