In 2021, MARPOSS implemented SAP S/4 HANA as its central ERP platform to standardize and centralise financial and operational processes across the group. The SAP S/4 HANA deployment targeted ERP Financial capabilities and was designed to provide a single, centralised tool for tracking and analysing corporate information from the Bentivoglio headquarters to production plants and affiliated subsidiaries worldwide.
SAP S/4 HANA was configured to cover core finance, purchasing, sales, production and MRP, and to support integrated business models including make to stock, make to order, engineering to order and services. The program used SAP S/4 HANA Best Practices executed in progressive waves and step releases, which enabled a pilot go-live in a recently acquired small manufacturing company within six months and a subsequent extension to the back office of Marposs Spa and its Italian distributor, Marposs Italia.
VAR BMS, a Var Group company, led the implementation and provisioned redundant SAP services on the cloud with 24 by 7 availability, creating a cloud-hosted SAP S/4 HANA architecture intended to be replicable across group companies. The environment was used to validate scalability across companies of different sizes and supported over 750 live users at the time of reporting.
Governance relied on a dedicated team of several dozen VAR BMS consultants working with Marposs IT and business stakeholders, following phased rollouts and model-based configurations to harmonise processes across finance and operations. The implementation produced standardised process and data models that deliver real-time business snapshots for decision making, and Marposs has signaled plans to roll the SAP S/4 HANA solution out to all its Italian and foreign production and sales facilities.
